West Africa Solar Market Update:
In the last half of 2023, sales of off-grid solar power kits in West Africa reached 886,700 units, as reported by GOGLA, the global off-grid solar power industry association. This marks a 5% increase compared to the first half of 2023, though a 4% decrease compared to the second half of 2022.
According to GOGLA’s latest Global Off-Grid Solar Market Report, spot sales saw a significant rise of 15% from the first half of 2023, reaching 401,800 units. Meanwhile, the PAYGo segment experienced a slight decline of 1%, totaling 484,890 units.
Nigeria continues to drive growth in the region, accounting for 82% of total sales with 729,700 units sold. Following Nigeria are Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast.
